Goodness gracious. Try and find a good fitness ball. Seriously!
Last monday morning, I was at friends place for dinner and we were all sitting on chairs (*duh*). A little later, one other person joined us and we ran out of chairs, so the host got his fitness ball (a.k.a desk chair) out and let him sit on that and I thought "nawrgh not again one of those". Apparently, the hosts Mom is a physiotherapist, so he is not allowed to sit on anything else really, but these balls.
A little later in the night, due to changes in seating arrangement, my seat was taken and I sat on the ball and OMG! I loved it. In fact, I loved it so much that I went out and bought myself one right the next day. I bought the wrong size and the material was too cheap too, which made the ball incredibly squishy, so I went out again and returned it today and got myself a nicer, slightly smaller one, with stiffer material. I just blew it up and as of now it seems the right deal.
I checked online why and if it's good to use these fitness balls and much to my surprise, there are so many haters out there, saying "nooo it makes your posture bad and is bad for your muscles when sitting on it for prolonged hours". I guess I am a bit worried now, whether I am doing the right thing, especially because I do sit at my desk for the majority of the day. But then again, my friends Mom is a physio and recommended him using one, so I suppose what's good for him is good for me? Sitting on this chair that I am sitting on right now just gives me major aches too.
In my final attempt to support my pro-ball-as-desk-chair-choice, sitting at a desk on any item/chair/ball/thing for extreme lengths of time cannot be that great for the body. I shall try this out now and see if it works for me. At this very moment in time, I will have to let it sit blown up like this for 24 hours (WHAT A BLOODY LONG TIME, considering I have been dying to use it) so the material can get "used to its current, inflated state" and prevent ruptures *HAIZ*.
If anyone has heard anything on pro-fitness balls or against-fitness balls or would like to comment on the fitness ball idea, please let me know. Maybe a chair may be the better idea? Oh well. Right now as I said, I shall try it out and see if it is the right thing to do.
