Argh. I'm bored blogging about what I did in America. I would love to Blog about more contemporary issues that are actually funny, but I promised myself I would do a blog post a day about America, so I shall. Just so I can read back and remember what I did over there. If no one wants to join me and read for the next couple of America days, that's totally cool. I understand. We already completed the journey up until Day 17, so only another 13 days to go and the journey is complete. Please note that this is the first morning in the longest time, without a powercut from 8 am until 9 am. *phew* I can charge my laptop, while writing this next blog and listening to ... Tokio Hotel? I must have gone nuts.
Here it goes ...
... rise and shine. A new day. Terrible sleep. We wanted one bed, but instead the guy gave us 2 small beds. I guess that's a double bed? But it's only maybe 3/4 of a queen and double the size of a standard single bed. We had 2 of those, useless shits. We tried moving them together, which was impossible. Instead, we tried squeezing into one, which just wasn't happening, because we kept punching each other. I believe TDH slept like a log, but I didn't.
Breakfast: $15? No way. We decided to be stingy and I had my first meal around 2 pm. No sleep, no breakfast, crappy lunch: MAJOR breeding ground for grumpiness.
From our hotel, we could see the US Captiol. We reckoned it would be walking distance, so we walked. The US Capitol was surrounded by army and security and everytime I would only come close to my jacket pocket (yes yes, I'm hiding a machine gun in my tiny jacket pocket), to get my camera to naturally take a picture, I was stared at by at least 5 massive security guards. Eventually, some security guard struck up a conversation with me and enlightened me on how to get a free ticket (if the ticket is free, why do I need one in the first place? No clue!) to get into the US Capitol. He seemed quite nice, but still watched my every step.
Our guide in the US Capitol was quite random, but the tour was cool and I'll post pictures eventually.
Just opposite the US Capitol, one can find the Library of Congress, which apparently holds around 840 kms of books. Unbelievable. I probably only saw 2 m worth of books, if at all. No pictures to be taken; however I sneaked in a couple anyway. Hellooooo! I'm coming alllll the way from over HERE and you expect me not to take pictures? What's wrong with you.
Starved to death, we were headed into direction: Food. Obviously we were headed into the wrong direction, which we only figured once we had reached the place (45 mins later), corrected our mistake and were now actually headed into direction: Food.
