What's an earworm? An earworm is a calque of the German word Ohrwurm. An earworm is basically a bit of a song or the entire song that's is just stuck in your head, also known as haunting melody, or involuntary musical imagery. Anyhow, because of the lovely mix of music and insects in today's post, I reckon the title "earworm" fits like the fist on the eye (yes, I'm aware that that does NOT make sense in English).
I've embedded a couple of German radio stations there on the right, just so one doesn't actually get too bored reading my blog, or for someone like me who is just too lazy to always go search for webradios, when I can have them linked right there and they are really just 2 clicks away. To listen any of the 4 radio stations, just click on the logo of any one of the radio stations and it should start playing.
Anyhow, my monday morning was rather weird. Argh, apparently today is the start of Pfingsten, which is not even celebrated over here. Dang! If I were in Germany, I would be on a holiday right now, for 2 entire weeks but noooo it's okkk, I'll go write my exams instead. Somehow I can never just get up and be happy around exam time. There's always something or the other happening around exam time *tsktsk*. Believe it or not our living room and kitchen is infested again! I just can't believe it. After our last maggot plague we were extra clean and packed everything in air tight containers. But I guess it's still not enough. The funny thing is, it's not the conventional bug infestations that people usually have, like cockroaches and ants no, we always have random insects that no one has ever heard of before. This time, we have tiny black bugs crawling all over the place. None of us knew exactly what they were. I suggested they were flour worms (that turn into flour bugs). But then thank goodness those weren't the ones. Plus flour bugs are just waaayy too big, as I just realized.

Then I went and did my super douper research and it turned out that these bugs are "Grain Weevils". Compared to the flour worm, these are actually quite cute. They look like a little vacuum cleaner ^^. But then again if I found them in my room, I would probably not find them that cute anymore. They walk incredibly slow, so I might have a good chance to spot them and stop them before they reach my room. But when I come to think of it, they are super tiny so maybe not.

They are extreeemllyyy hard to kill an. I could probably sit on them and hop around a bit and they would still move. Anyway, so when I finally found what I was looking for and had a quick read through and it turned out that when those dudes are ingested they cause food poisoning!!! I mean HELLOOOOOO food poisoning ? Now I've got little buggers running around the house that cause food poisoning ??? How much weirder can it get seriously! *sigh*. Jeanne sprayed the sofa with insectisides. Yes my favourite spot in this entire house, THAT SOFA! The thought that they were possibly breeding in there just disgusts me. But then again they lay their eggs only in grains. Oh well. Let's see what'll happen with these buggers. Hopefully they'll realize soon that we have nothing more to offer and bugger off. Ha! By the time we leave this house for good, we will all be exotic bug experts :D.
Oh, happier news, my threadless t-thirt finally arrived this moring :). Somehow the print looks so much more even online, but it's alright. Just hoping that it won't wash off so quickly. Anywaaayyy, back to studying!
