I am not very christian at all. I have been baptized and was confirmed, but my attitudes are by no means very religious. I spend 99% of my 365 days, doing what I want, how I want it and when I want it. Nonetheless, I do like to conform and enjoy life "the christian way" about 1% of the year.
I also refer to the 1% as Christmas. Christmas has always been the time of year, when I feel the need to be religous, go to church and be all mindful. I feel no shame in doing so either, because it is such a big thing across countries and is apparent across various domains of life and there is no harm to want to understand why we celebrate christmas. Every year that I have been willing to be open towards going to church around christmas, I have learnt something new and I feel enriched, which in turn makes me happy.
The first mass of this year that I attended was a beautiful mass at a friends farm, where quite a number of people gathered to celebrate the start of the new christian year, the first Advent.

Advent Advent ein Lichtlein brennt,
erst Eins, dann Zwei, dann Drei, dann Vier,
dann steht das Christkind vor der Tuer

Lawrance, no way have you been forgotten. Rest in peace!!![Tune]
