About Me

My photo
I am in my 20's and a passionate student, majoring in Psychology. I was born and brought up in Germany, moved around about 4923 times and recently moved in with my lovely boyfriend Mr. Bubbles (no that is not his actual petname), who affectionately shares the space in my green Bubble.

I am a raging, almost melodramatic observant, who picks up on body language and gestures like no other. I love to spending my days out and about and observe anything that comes my way, just so I can report it to whoever is around me.

Jasmin(e)

Personal emails, letters, name tags, labels, address book entries, diary entries, signatures, notes, ... what do they all potentially contain?

My name.

People can be very particular about their name, how it is pronounced, how it is spelt, etc. I had a tutor some time ago who would even reduce marks if we mispelt her name. Similarily, I get annoyed too.

I love my name. It's a great name. Jasmin. I think in conjunction with my other names, it definitely has a ring to it. I also think it is a great name, because it is relatively easy to pronounce (unlike names such as "Jochen", where people are never certain whether it is in fact "Jo Cheng" or "Joken"), but more so Jasmin is easy to spell: J-A-S-M-I-N! No complicated phoenetical confusions or similar. All that's required is a J, an A, a S, M I and N. Spelling this name, is particularily simple when I write an email, sign and spell out my name, because the spelling is already presented, but no! What do I get in return? Exactly! People will start their reply "Hi Jasmine ...". I have had this issue for about 8 years now and I'm tired of having to remind people of how to spell my name. It's just something I think of as respect towards the other person. If I had a complicated name I would understand, but hey! IT'S NOT!

The other day I was so annoyed at this person, mispelling my name in the email that I didn't even feel like replying. Instead, I was daydreaming of possible things to do, to get people to stop and I came up with this beautiful idea of doing it to them. I got straight to work and replied to this person's email, addressing the email to "Hi Joele ...". Voila! His reply started with "Hi Jasmin ...". *haaallleeelluuujaaaaa* He managed to reply properly and my mission was completed.

Verdict: What goes around comes around.
