Weird night indeed ... I suppose this is what I get for wanting to study hard in the library right?
My friend Weso and I were in the 24/7 learning common, like on so many nights. It wasn't too full, which was very much expected (... after all it is friday night, where people go out and have fun, instead of study in the library) and nice, because on all other days it is often a bit overcrowded. Anyhow, Weso and I were sitting by one of the computers, headphones plugged in, listening to music and trying block out our surroundings to fully be able to concentrate on our work, when there was this really noisy noise coming from somewhere (felt like our surroundings changed from a quite bedroom to a trainstation within seconds) and so I turned to see what was going on. *shiver* I stared the source of noise in the eye, who evil-ly stared back at me. I'm not going to be racist, but the source of noise was from a very sunny continent, sort of in the midsouth of the map. *hinthint* Not sure if my stare annoyed him, but hey it's a library, not a pub/coffee shop! ...
... 15 mins later ... the noise still had not died down and so I turned around again and this time the dude yelled at me from across the library, asking me what my problem was and frankly I did not have a problem so I said "nothing, I just want to study and you are just really loud!" I believe the other people had realized that something was up and people turned to see what was going on, while there was this background chatter, coming from the initial source of noise, saying something like "fuck off! fuck you!! shut the fuck up" repeatedly. I happily ignored their prophanities and replied "well, I'm here to study and I believe we all are (pointing at other people), but we can't when you chat so loudly!" That must flipped their switch and amongst their many fuck you's and fuck off's, I could hear one of those 2 chatterboxes telling me to go to the silence zone, because this was not the silence zone. I just thought to myself SILENCE ZONE? At night there is no silence and none silence zone it's all just one. I thought about saying that, but since their attention span seemed to equal that of an exotic tropical forest worm, I said "I just want to study". It looked like they were ready to beat us up and so was my friend, who was now nervously shifting in his seat, ready to jump at them. I couldn't even comprehend what was going on, but anyway I didn't want this to escalate and just told Weso over and over again that it's not worth it and he should sit down and stay put, which he thankfully did in the end. I didn't want this to have any long lasting repercussions and I'm praying that there won't be any.
End of the story, we left about 15 minutes later, because I was so out of it and unable to study, secretly shivering and boiling with anger.
P.S.: I don't think I want to go back there for the rest of the weekend.
