Except, it is quite surprising that a lot of Germans don't know their anthem properly, including myself. Just to avoid the embarrassing moments of standing there shouting out the first 3 lines in utter pride and then sort of mouthing the rest, I went to recheck the "lyrics" properly and now for the first time, actually totally know the words ???! *YAY*!
